To whom do I complain about local drainage or flash flood
problem?
Both DID and the appropriate local authority are responsible
for drainage. In general the local authority is responsible for the construction
and maintenance of the local drainage system which is mainly of secondary
drains. DID Sarawk is responsible for the main trunk drains and the
rivers which may flow within and outside the local authority areas.
Floodings caused by choked drains and culverts fall under the responsibility
of the local authority. Floodings caused by overspilling of rivers due to
inadequate capacity is normally the responsibility of DID.

What is a "Flash
Flood" & when does it become a "Flood"?
According to Charles A. Doswell, a flash flood can be defined as
an event where the rising water occurs during or a matter of a few hours after
the associated rainfall. If the damaging water level increases occur more
than a few hours after the rainfall, the event is considered to be a flood
and not a flash flood.
